I’m a woman who, after 25 years of working in office cubicles, has found her comfortable place in life. After spending my youth chasing adventure in San Francisco, I finally moved back to my homeland (southern Louisiana) to settle down. Wondering how to pronounce my maiden name? It’s 2 syllables that sounds like FONT-KNOW. Now you know. 🙂
I was brought up to believe that good food and good fun went hand in hand, and that hard work and a strong education would enable the good food and good fun to be had. I work hard but I enjoy the work I do. I enjoy life and the people in my world. These are the things that make me who I am, and they contribute to both my work ethics and my personal life.
Author / Novelist
My most recent career move involves writing novels. My first is a mystery / suspense novel called The Grave Blogger, but it won’t be the last, so if you like mysteries, read The Grave Blogger and then stay tuned for future books! I’m a Cajun from the bayou country of Louisiana, so all of my books will have a strong regional and cultural influence that I personally think makes for a good read. Spend a little time with the stories I tell and you’ll find yourself in a place as intriguing as it is haunting.
What I Also Do For A Living
I’ve been making my living working from home for several years now. The Internet has given me the opportunity to do the things I love to do, while still earning money and paying the bills. Much of the last few years was spent educating others on the subject of SEO (search engine optimization), but I did that mainly as a way of giving back to the industry. On a day to day basis, I’d estimate that half of my work time is spent engaging in a mix of freelance and marketing services, while the other half involves creating my own sites for fun and profit.
SEO and Inbound Marketing
I’ve been an SEO since the early days, and I can help your site obtain relevant, organic search and social traffic. I offer SEO audits, social marketing guidance, and content marketing. Much of your success depends upon your content and website copy. You already know I’m a novelist, and it’s that same kind of story-telling and creativity that I combine with my long history of online marketing skills that gives my clients the edge they need to compete.
Over time, I’ve fallen in love with WordPress. It has become the best way for many people to build an online presence. It’s no longer just for blogging. It can handle a variety of website needs (although it’s not right for every site). I’ve become familiar with every aspect of WordPress and I use it extensively, not only for my own sites, but also for clients. I’m often asked to migrate an old existing site into WordPress, so the client can easily update and add content to their site without needing to struggle with code or pay a webmaster to do it for them. Sometimes, this migration involves creating a WordPress theme that mimics their current site design, and other times, I create an entirely new design for the client. Either way, the client gets a fresh new site, that she can easily maintain on her own. For more on what I do, keep reading, or just get in touch if you need a WordPress specialist.
eBusiness Coach and Consultant
When I realized that I could finally break away from the grind of going into an office five days a week, no matter how sick I might be, or how important a family event might be to me, I found my version of true success. I was able to make that dream come true because of the Internet. The web has enabled millions of people to make money online, and there are many more who would like to do so as well. My goal is to help a few of them turn their goals, their dreams, and their skills into a successful online business. I’ve coached quite a few people who always find that their path to success was much easier with a little help from someone who has been through it before.
As your eBusiness coach, I’ll give guidance and support as you work towards your online success goals. That includes advice and expertise as well as helping to keep you motivated and focused. We work on your goals through weekly one-on-one phone calls, with each lasting about an hour. We’ll end each call with action items for you, and after each call, I’ll give you a written summary of what we discussed. This helps you remember details, and provides a checklist for the coming week.
Between phone sessions, you can email me if you need help or guidance to accomplish the action plan we set previously.
Because I have a broad background in working online, I can help in many ways — from planning the business, to building your site, to marketing it. The people I coach and consult with come from various backgrounds, and they all have different plans and ambitions. Some are only looking for a way to earn some spending money. Some long to walk away from their day jobs to run their own businesses from home. Others already have a successful online business, but need help understanding SEO or navigating the new world of social media marketing. What they all need is someone they can turn to for support; someone who will be in their corner as they make decisions. That’s what my ebusiness coaching is all about.
I believe that the one-on-one relationship I have with my clients is beneficial because of the personalized path we take. Instead of automating and scaling this business so that I can make tons of money with very little work, I prefer to work with just a few clients so they get my full attention. I won’t become rich by running my business that way, but I’ll be richer for the experience of working with a few great clients. If you’re interested in having me coach you one-on-one, get in touch!
