Quick Tip Tuesday – Volume 4

Quick Tip Tuesdays are designed to give quick tips for everyone to be able to implement right now, or at least, this week. The tips are divided up into 3 categories: 2 tips for those who haven’t yet started their own site, 1 tip for those who need more traffic to their existing site, and 1 tip for those looking to find a new way to monetize their existing site. This is Volume 4.

Not Yet Started A Site:

  • Determine how to fit into the crowd. Last week, one tip suggested that you determine what makes you different from the crowd. This tip suggests you do exactly the opposite, but both are beneficial. In this case, you want to see what may be missing, and supply what’s needed in the crowd of competitors. Finding a way to synergistically fit in can be useful to everyone.
  • Create 5 to 10 main topic categories. Your site will revolve around some main theme, but can almost always be broken down into sub-themes. Map out a few subtopics that naturally fall under the main topic.

Need More Traffic:

  • Advertise. Yes, I know that sounds obvious, but really, even advertising for one month on Google, or on blogs in your niche, can kick-start your site’s traffic and get it going. Once you have some decent traffic built up, you can determine if you want to continue advertising or not.

Need More Monetization Ideas:

  • Create an accessory to an existing product. Find a product in your niche and create something useful for that product. For example, if your niche has to do with electronics, find a device that could use a skin of some sort, create one in various colors, using material you can get lots of, and sell them via ebay and etsy. If your niche contains digital products of some sort (software, etc.), then create a theme, skin, or plugin for it – or hire someone to create one for you.

If you’ve already used these tips on your own, or just don’t have time right now, add them to a to-do list. You can implement many of the tips more than once, and you can always come back when you have time to tackle those you didn’t have time for.

Keep your Quick Tip Tuesday to-do list handy so you can add more later, and implement whenever you have some spare time.
